Hi guys! I need your suggestions. I just recently bought corsair h100i together with Intel i5 4670k and the idle temperature seems to be terribly high at 50 degrees Celsius. What should I do? Use another thermal paste? Redo the whole process? ASAP

Solution
he said idle. I'd remount it. You do have a decent amount of pressure on it? I sounds like poor contact to me, like what i'd expect from a bad push pin installation.

Hmm i didnt see, i'm sure i read it twice.
In anycase, yeah OP, remount it.
Also check that the pump works.

Sounded harsher than I meant it to sound (i.e. not harsh at all). Sorry.

I hope others read this even though it is an older thread, especially those whom are just doing some of these all in one cooling systems.

Item1 - Make sure if you are using AMD that you have the backplate on properly. There are notches in the backplate that go around the screws/rivets for the cpu holder itself. You can put the backplate on incorrectly and you will have a problem with cooling. Then you need to take out the entire motherboard to correct the incorrectly placed cpu cooling plate ( which is a pain in the ass ) So make sure you have the backplate in properly before putting the motherboard in the machine

Item2 - Put everything in first before connecting the cpu cooler last either on AMD or Intel since you can utilize the video card as a place to prop up the cooler while you mount the cooling fan. This will stop the cpu cooler from moving around all over the motherboard and potentially scratching something or having the plastic paste cover fall off and then get messed up.

Item3 - Don't forget to remove the plastic cover from the paste/cooler and the plastic scratch guard from the top of the CPU cooler ( the piece they put on to protect it from getting scratched ) as this will increase your temps if you leave it on.

That's it.. just wanted to add this information. When I did my first watercooler for AMD I just added the backplate and mounted the motherboard and then put everything in and ran wires and blah blah blah, only to find out I had the backplate incorrectly installed due to screw notches. Had to remove everything.. It sucked..
