My goal:
To run skyrim modded at 1080p with enb mods (Realvision Enb) at 60fps solid. To run Battlefield 4 at all Ultra settings including 4x msaa.

My current rig:
i7 2700k Oc'ed to 4.2 ghz
Msi Gtx 770 overclocked edition 2gb
128gb ssd
2 secondary normal harddrives
16gb corsair ram at 1600 MHz
Corsair 700w psu
intel DZ77GA-70K mobo
corsaid cpu water cooler

Currently my system will run skyrim modded with realvision at 40fps, and on battlefield 4 I can do all ultra with 2x msaa and maintain 60fps most of the time. I see some 4gb cards priced very closely to the same 2gb model and cant quite understand why. Can anyone offer some knowledgeable suggestions?

Here's the 4gb card I'm considering http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

2GB should be enough in our day if you're gaming on one 1080p screen.
The only reason you would need 4GB would be if you're gaming on multiple screens, or at anything over 1080p resolution. (4K)

You can get it if you want, but I don't think you will see a big difference.
You could run two 770's in SLI and that will give you the highest-end performance for the new few years.

Well one other thing I might add is I'm reading in different places that the extra memory wouldn't be utilized, but then other places state that it would in games such as skyrim.

More VRAM on a graphics card wont really make a difference to your framerate. But games at higher resolutions such as a 4k resolutions do require about 3 or 4GB of VRAM.

My opinion... Lack of vram is noticiable only when new textures have to be added to the GPU, for example loading interior/exterior. it will drop the frame rate only a moment, when that textures are loaded the GPU runs smooth. For 1080p and some HD textures, 2GB should be sufficient. My old 5850 1GB can run Skyrim 1080p+Ultra+some Mods HD (No ENB), I only notice the lack of vram in the loading moments. If you want 60+frames with ENBs you should go for a 780 or 780ti... I know they are very expensive.

My new 780ti 3GB can run with 1080p+Ultra+some Mods HD+ENB+(Ugrids7) at average 50 fps. Only uses 2.8GB vram. ENBs fully activated drops the framerate to 50% if you want more frames maybe you should buy 780/780ti or sli with another 770.

For higher framerate in a game, you have to look at a graphics cards core clock speed and its memory clock speed. Over 1000mhz is good for the core clock speed and 4000mhz and over is good for the memory clock.
