Hello,
Up until a few weeks ago, my 1+ year old custom built desktop pc was working fine. Then Windows 7 started to randomly, gradually slow down to a halt, sometimes displaying a "minidump" related blue screen. I backed-up all my files and reinstalled Windows 7. After installing all the necessary drivers and numerous Windows Updates, the computer was restarted. It was after this restart that the OS would not boot. I came to this conclusion based on my monitor not receiving a signal from any type of port or cable. The cables I had tested were DisplayPort, HDMI (both gpu and mobo), as well as the mobo's DVI port. Also, I pressed Caps Lock to see if the caps lock light would switch on on my keyboard as a test and it did not, which is a sure sign that the OS did not boot. At this point, I thought something was wrong with my hard drive since I just installed Windows 7 before this issue had occurred. I tested the hd in my friend's computer, it worked and booted just fine. So after checking all my cable connections, I thought the issue was my motherboard.
Currently, I had taken my old mobo out and am waiting for a new one to be shipped as I type this. What I would like to know is IF it turns out the new mobo doesn't solve the problem, should I suspect my CPU, my PSU, or something else entirely as the culprit?
In advance, thank you for your time and effort.
