Hi guys,

I'm trying to connect my Xbox One to my ASUS VG27AH monitor. The Xbox and monitor are connected directly by HDMI but my monitor is telling me there's no signal. I expect I'm overlooking something simple here, so any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

It is likely a resolution issue. I would connect the Xbox One to your TV so you can get at the settings, then change the resolution (try 1080i if it is on 1080p, for example) then plug into ASUS monitor and see if it works. Repeat until you get it working or run out of settings.

Here is the guide to change the resolution on the Xbox One: https://support.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-one/system/adjust-display-settings

I think it's a pretty good console, but I'm not as much of a hardcore gamer as some people, so perhaps not the best person to ask. Although, it'd be a pretty good time for you to purchase one with the prices coming down considerably from what they were.

After purchasing the Xbox One I learned 2 things.

1. Xbox One does not do 1080i, only 1080p. So when hooked up to my 1080i TV it will run at 720p only. Not a big deal, just worth mentioning as I was not aware.
2. Xbox One will make weird sounds if settings are not correct. Mine were at 7.1 uncompressed and I was getting weird whining noises and no dialogue while in cutscenes. Not sure if this was a default or I chose incorrectly during setup. I changed it to Stereo uncompressed and now sounds much better and I get all dialogue.

Well maybe one other thing I learned. I am no good at online multiplayer! I get owned on Titanfall!
