Hi,

I'm thinking about building a new HTPC.

The main purpose of the computer will be:
1. XBMC, handle 1080 maybe playback 3D content in the future.
2. Maybe run PLEX server in background to serve other media players in the house
3. Background tasks like backup, torrent, small web tasks.

I was thinking about following build:

CPU: Intel Core i3-4130 3.4GHz Dual-Core Processor
Motherboard: ASRock B85M-ITX Mini ITX LGA1150 Motherboard
Memory: Corsair 4GB (2 x 2GB) DDR3-1333 Memory
Storage: Samsung 840 Series 120GB 2.5" Solid State Disk
Power Supply: Silverstone 300W 80+ Bronze Certified SFX Power Supply
Keyboard: Logitech K400 Wireless Slim Keyboard w/Touchpad
Case: Silverstone ML06
IR: Flirc

And the add a few 2.5 Hard disks as i need em for storage.

I would like to hear what you think about it, and if you see any problems in compatibility between the pieces i picked or fitting the build into the case.

Hope you will help.

Not sure of your budget. Thoughts on the build below? Low latency memory, motherboard with WiFi and BT, better power supply... Going with integrated graphics for now?

Thanks for you feedback sadams04,

Problem is the machine is not gonna be hidden, so the design and the size of the unit does matter, and in this size (max 25 cm in depth, and max 10 cm in height) this was the only case i liked, so my build is gonna be in that case, i then have to pick components that fit into it.

For the graphic, I guess i'm good with the integrated for what my purpose is with the machine. since gaming never will be on this machine.

The ML06 isn't available through PCPartPicker, but the ML03B in the build below should be a direct swap. Easy fix...

Hi Again,

Thanks for you follow up reply,

First of all, the ML03 and ML06 is two very different cases.

ML03 can fit a ATX PSU as you listed, ML06 can only fit a SFX PSU, that's why i did chose such one(see link in my first post),

for all the other parts you picked, seems pretty nice, but:
1. I don't see why i need low latency ram for a HTPC.
2. WiFi will not be of any use in a HTPC, gonna go with gigabit Ethernet.
3. why change the SSD to Crucial instead of Samsung ?

But anyway thanks for taking you the time to answer my post.
