How to install the Motherboard (it does not drop into place)?

Hi:

I have bought an Asrock Z77 Pro3 and a NZXT Gamma, but I cant install the motherboard in the case.

The case came with a bag of standoffs which I screwed to the case where the ATX holes were, but now I cant install the motherboard because the standoffs are bigger than the holes in the motherboard, so I guess I did something wrong but I do not know what.

Or am I doing it right and no part of the standoffs should cross the motherboard holes, like the motherboard is just sitting above the standoffs?

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Maybe I'm misunderstanding the problem, but it sounds to me that you are trying to put the standoffs through the screw holes on the motherboard (so that the motherboard lies on the back of the case with the standoffs sticking out on the other side). If that's the case, don't.

All you have to do is place the motherboard so that a hole is over each standoff. This will raise the motherboard off of the back of the case. Then just screw through the holes into the standoffs, tighten enough to eliminate wobble, but don't put too much force on it. Lightly snug.

The point of standoffs is to keep the solder and metal of the motherboard from creating a circuit with the metal of the case and causing a short (killing your motherboard). So the standoffs are supposed to create a gap between the case and the motherboard.

I hope that helps! :)

Thanks to both for responding!

Yes, I thought that the standoffs should partially cross the motherboard holes, but now the problem is that when the motherboard sits above the standoffs, the standoffs and the motherboard holes dont align properly.

If I push hard the motherboard up and left (where the shield with the connectors is) I can align the holes with the standoffs (maybe the shield is a little bit bent?), but Im not sure if it is a good idea to push that and screw the board by force.

What should I do?
