Laptop only detecting integrated graphics card?

I have recently purchased an Alienware 14 laptop with the following specs:
Alienware 14 ALW14-1870SLV
Intel Core i7-M700MQ @ 2.4GHz (8 CPUs)
8GB RAM
Nvidia GeForce GT 750M with 1GB GDDR5
OS is Windows 8 64bit

These specs appear correct when I run SystemRequirementsLab but under DXDiag is another story. Instead of my Nvidia graphics card being detected as it should, Intel HD Graphics 4600 is strangely being detected. I've also installed World of Warcraft to give my new laptop a test run yet it is also detecting Intel HD Graphics 4600 and encouraging me to install the proper video driver.

How can I make it so my system and the games I want to run are detecting the proper dedicated graphics card and not the stock, integrated HD graphics? Would any of you recommend a driver installation? I'm not very well-versed in this field, any help at all is appreciated. Thank you. :)

Well I just updated my video driver and it's still telling me through Dxdiag and WoW that my video card is an Intel HD Graphics 4600 while if I open the GeForce Experience (Which installed via my driver update) or scan my system through System Requirements Lab it indicates that indeed I do have the GT 750M.

This is puzzling. :|

Hmm.. you could try disabling the integrated graphics in bios, however, normally your laptop should run integrated graphics while on desktop and graphics card while on the dedicated card-disabling the onboard graphics will stop that from happening.
Another problem this might cause is that if your gpu is faulty, you might have no display at all, and i dont know how to reset bios in your laptop without tearing it apart and getting the battery out.

I tried disabling Intel HD Graphics 4600 in the device manager (Both it and the GT 750M are showing up under display adapters..) but all it does is bring up Microsoft Basic Display Driver. If I disable both and then enable just the Nvidia GeForce GT 750M it still indicates under dxdiag that I'm using the basic display driver.

How do I bring up BIOS during start-up in Windows 8? I really hope the GPU itself isn't faulty.

Yeah this is really frustrating. I'm running a VR Performance test and it's detecting the Intel integrated graphics driver instead of the nVidia GTX970m. I'm assuming removing the Intel driver is going to cause me a world of pain so I'm not going to try that. Love an answer to this, I think it would explain some other performance issues, the GPU is the most impressive part of this laptop and I get the feeling it's not being utilized at all.

My Alienware was not detecting my 860m, only the Intel graphics. Here's what I did.

-Uninstalled all nvidia graphics drivers.
-Disabled Intel graphics in my device manager
-Reboot
-went to nvidia's website and reinstalled graphics drivers
-reboot
-enabled Intel graphics in device manager.
-Presto

If nvidia won't install the new drivers and gives an error message. First, Make sure all nvidia software is uninstalled. Then enable Intel graphics card, wait about 30 seconds, disable it again. Then reboot and try to install the drivers again. Last time I did this it took me 3 tries.
