I recently ordered the corsair vengeance 8 gig memory and a case, and now am completing the rest of my build. I was planning on cooling my 8320 with the 212 evo, but I fear that the R.A.M. will be in the way! (Cooling spines) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

Could this issue be eliminated by simply using the two slots furthest from the CPU, or should I save for liquid cooling? I will be overclocking! Mobo is the gigabyte GA990- fine for oc I believe.

It might be pushed against the fan on the 212 evo but should fit just fine. Assuming your motherboard isn't oddly shaped. What board is it?

EDIT:

Oops, missed that, I guess. It should work just fine, even if it is pressed right onto it.

So could I simply use the 2 and 4 RAM slots rather than the 1 and 3 to avoid any confrontation between the top of them and the fan?

Yes. That will work perfectly.

Not sure. I think that might depend on the board. You can try it. But you want them to be in different colored slots for dual channel. As in 1/2 or 3/4, assuming 3/4 works. Just read the motherboard manual.

I have been looking around and haven't seem something as simple as shifting the RAM! (Assuming the other slots aren't occupied) Thanks for the confirmation. Here we come, mild overclock! lol Also, will that board I chose be compatible with future AMD chips? (Apologize for tangent)

Dual channel is generally the same color slots.

Wait, that sounds right. I got mixed up. But just to be sure, the manual will know.

Edit:

Disregard my slip up. Refreshed my memory and it is 2 and 4 you want to use. Do that. I'm going to go get an ice pick lobotomy because I should have known better.

Nothing to worry about, the Hyper 212 EVO has a height adjustable fan, if sticks in the way just set the fan slightly higher, I have an EVO on my 3570K (in sig) runinng 32GB of 2400 Tridents with no problems, have another on my SB with 32GB of Ripjaws X (2500K @ 4.8), so you'll be fine
