Hi.

My question is noise related. Before this card I owned an Asus GTX 670 DCuII and it was sublime, very, very quiet at idle and under load. The Gigabyte GTX 780 Ghz is by no means loud, inaudible when idling actually. I'm not sure, hence the question, but when gaming and the fans ramp up to about 50-60%, I found the middle fan to make quite a racket when compared to the other two, I stopped it with my finger and the difference is huge. I understand that the noise from three fans will be more than the noise from two fans, but when I stopped the outer fans the difference was much smaller. Could any of you, who own this card, confirm if this is normal, because I'm thinking about RMA. I know I'm a noise freak!
Would the Asus GTX 780 be quieter?!

Thanks!

i would have picked up Asus at first place. I don't own GTX 780 card but problem can be with your cooler itself. Here is reference cooler noise level for GTX 780:

if you think noise level are higher than that in above stated link it would best to RMA your gpu.

Thanks for the reply! I had the Asus GTX 670 before this and it sagged bad, I had to use fishing line to support it, the new Asus GTX 780 has a brace but it still sags a bit. Other than the fan issue the card is incredibly powerful, cool and I like the look. Frankly, at this point I'm also considering a custom water cooling loop, so it may not mater that much.

then nothing to be worried, with water loop you will be rocking again silently.
Good luck ;)

I don't know if you'll be able to find a water block for a gigabyte WF. But, normally, the center fan on any tri can design is always iffy. Even on the MSI 780 Lightning, which is considered one of the best cards of all time, the center fan still rattles a bit.

EK has a block for the new Gigabyte WF cooler on the GTX780/ti as an upcoming release.
