Hi. I wanted to watch a movie from my pc. i plugged in the external DVD Drive (my internal one doesnt work) and waited for it to losd on windows. When it loaded, I couldn't open/play it. I decided to restart the PC to boot from it. After that, the movie still would not play. I unplugged the DVD drive, and after that the PC wouldnt boot. I went into the BIOS and made sure that the first boot option was my OS HDD. Still the same screen appeared. There are two options for booting in my BIOS. One of them is my HDD. The other one is the same HDD with a blue UEFI label above it. When I plug in the DVD drive, my PC sometimes freezes on the BIOS boot screen. I inserted the Windows 8 DVD into the drive. When I booted, it was stuck on a Preparing for Automatic Repair screen, and then went black. I loaded defaults and tried booting from the different options. i had, no luck. Whats this issue, and how do. i solve it?

Boot to HDD using EUFI.

Disconnect the drive,

Disconnect any USB devices attached

Attempt to boot.

You'll need to specific on what exactly happens when you try to play a DVD. Is an owned copy or a burnt copy? Did you check the back of the disk for scratches?

I will try. When I play the DVD, Windows Explorer freezes. The DVDs are fine with no scratches.

What version of Windows are you using?

Is that the original installation from the time of purchase for that computer?

I use Windows 8.1 64 Bit. Yes, it is the original installation. I performed a system reset earlier.

I tried this, and no luck. When I try that, it shows the Windows loading screen, and is stuck there. The UEFI HDD option reads "Windows Boot Manager (HDD DRIVE MODEL #)" by the way.

I cant get into Windows though. When I boot, it says "Reboot and select proper boot device".

Yes. When I select that, it shows the windows logo and a spinning circle, and then goes black. That UEFI drive is called "Windows Boot Manager (my HDD model #)"
