So I've built a new rig. On one ssd I've got Windows 8. I've got a second ssd that I want to install Moutain Lion on. I've got the .dmg file for the install but I'm unsure of the best way to go about it. Am I right in thinking I can just boot to an external hard drive with the install file from the BIOS and install that way? Any advice? I've seen a video that says I need to change the sata mode to AHCI in the bios.... Anything else?

I've been trawling different websites for the last two days now and haven't found the help I need. Let me clarify. I have a new build running windows 8 off of one SSD. I have a second SSD I want to install OS X Mountain Lion on so I can dual boot (choose which SSD to boot) at startup. I have opened the .dmg file in 7-zip and copied the contents to a fresh External HDD. Will the .pkg files I uncompressed from the .dmg files auto run if I boot the external HDD from the BIOS?
