I am building a gaming PC with an FX-6300 CPU and either the 270x or GTX 760. Since I have a 6 core processor, will I see a significant benefit from games with Mantle support? If so, I may want to go with the 270x.

I do plan on playing Battlefield 4, but not exclusively. I'll also play through Bioshock Infinite and Skyrim with mods. I'm hoping more games will support Mantle over the next few years.

Considering these cards are about the same price from Asus, will my budget processor mean that I will see a good performance boost from Mantle, and should therefore choose the r9 270x?

i think that the 760 is a better buy because of the fact it has g sync and shadowplay. But the 270x does have mantle. but dx12 is going to be released soon and it will bring same power as mantle. http://www.extremetech.com/gaming/178904-directx-12-detailed-backwards-compatible-with-all-recent-nvidia-gpus-will-deliver-mantle-like-capabilities. Also it will be backward compatible with older gpus like the GTX 760.

See, each card has its pros. The 270X is amds biggest star in my opinion because it has good price-performance ratio and it supports Mantle wich may improve your experience. The 760 is a bit faster indeed, but does not Support Mantle... I would get the 270x, games are now being optimized for amds cards and that may be relevant in the future

mantle will take years to turn into something spectacular, plus tests show that you get the best performance with low end cpu's.
Your's is fairly powerful enough, Id suggest the GTX 760.
P.S right now only two games suppost mantle, BF4 and Thief, this year you might see 4-5 games, but seriously the day mantle comes into action your'e card would already become obsolete, :p

Well, it will take a bit for wide scale adoption, but that's already two games, and even 5 mainstream games this year is significant, it's not like there are hundreds of widely played games every year, there's the group of big games released in the fall, and then a few the rest of the year. I expect most of the games coming out this fall will support Mantle, considering it's done fairly well so far.

Still right now mantle isn't a selling point atleast not yet, plus tests have also shown that R9 270X was the least impressive in terms of mantle performance,
but in no way do I mean the R9 is a bad card, the sapphire R9 270X toxic edition really comes close within the margin of error to the GTX 760,
if R9 is what you want, get the sapphire one,
