Looking for the right PSU

I recently build a PC. It kept shutting on and off, I found out the problem was the PSU. I replaced everything, then after trying my friend's PSU the computer worked just fine.

So just buy that PSU right? Well I would but it's been sold out for awhile on newegg. Which is the Rosewill TACHYON -1000w

The PSU that I have is Rosewill Xtreme Series RX850-D-B 850W. Can anyone tell me why this one didn't work btw?

My PC:
Intel Core i5-4670
ASUS Z87-PRO LGA 1150
Geforce GTX 560ti
G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 8GB
Seagate 1TB HDD

Also I might be looking to upgrade to a GTX760 or 770 in the near future, so I want the PSU to be enough for that too. Thanks in advance =)

  1. With 44 amps on the 12v rail will run a GTX760 or 770 on your system.

    Made by the best SEASONIC.

  2. If you want a trouble free PSU, go with corsair or seasonic.

Would you recommend this one though? I want one that works with my specs, and to also work when I switch out the 560ti for a 770.

Thanks I just want to be careful since my older one crapped out on me. So I wanted one that will last me a really long while and not have to worry for some time.
  6. No problem , that's a great PSU.
  7. Always read the one star reviews on newegg before you buy. For long term reliability I'd remove silverstone from the tier 1 list. They make good cases, but I've had two of their PSUs die on me.

I hate spending my time fixing computers, so I only buy seasonic x-series, or corsair ax series.
