Is this CPU worth it.

Intel® Xeon® Processor E7-2890 v2
(37.5M Cache, 2.80 GHz) is the name of this 15 core monster. I will be doing heavy video rendering and development. Is it worth it? Keep in mind I am the kind of guy who likes going for super powerful stuff for no reason. So if you feel like it is too powerful give me a reason and replacement.

In most cases not worth 4770k would be fine this cpu is made for servers and it has different instruction sets. Most i would go if you have money to throw away is http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819116938

I would use that kind of core for gaming. I don't want to waste my 8 core i7 money on this. And i plan to do heavy stuff based on the amount of core. I'm looking for 8+ cores. I am doing heavy rendering and i7 won't cut it.

If you want to dump the money go for it, is it viable or logical? Probably not.
But if you are content throwing an entire high end PCs budget at a cpu feel free, the Xeon would fit you then.

I would recommend only an i7-4770k or an i7-4930k-4970x. Unless you are doing professional applications such as full on 3D rendering of extremely large projects, the cost isn't logical or worth it.
