So I built a budget system so I can sell my main rig until after I get a house and can build a new one...I noticed my GTX660ti hitting some fairly high clocks without even trying to find a max clock...are these super good clocks for a stock cooler?

MSI Z87i
Intel i5 4670k stock clocks - Hyper 212 push/pull - Max temp in game 49c
HyperX 2x4GB DDR3 1600Mhz (8GB)
Samsung 840 250GB SSD
Corsair CX600
BitFenix Prodigy Midnight Black Mini-ITX case
1x120mm TT intake fan
1x120mm TT exhaust fan

EVGA GTX660ti SC 3GB
Core - 1228Mhz
Memory- 3206Mhz (6412)

I have a custom fan profile it doesn't get too noisy at all while gaming in BF3 on ULTRA settings everything turned on at 1080p on a 64 player server with about 40 people on... Max temp after playing for over an hour was 71c ... I also noticed I was getting really good FPS....usually around 80FPS....

So...chip lottery or I think its better than it really is? lol

Just increase it by like 200 and see if it locks up or artifacts.

If it doesn't, than you are probably getting no overclock at all from MSI Afterburner. You are just seeing the impacts of temperature decreases from the custom fan profile and the Boost feature.

I've heard MSI afterbuner cannot overclock these cards well. EVGA precision works best. http://www.evga.com/precision/

I think you misread the post :p I was asking if the overclock on it is really good but you're suggesting just the opposite that it's really slow. The core currently runs at 1241mhz... i just wanted to see what on average most people are able to get out of these cards and if my little overclock is really good and if I should even try to push it harder considering I thought most people are lucky to get over 1100mhz...?

That's a decent overclock. There's absolutely nothing wrong with MSI Afterburner. I've used it for years and would always recommend it. I think you should be able to push that memory clock up another 100mhz. I was able to get 300mhz back when I still used that card.

No no.

I was saying, MSI afterburner can't adjust the voltages on the card. The performance you are seeing is most likely related to the lower temperature and the Boost feature.

That's probably the native clock speeds

I can change my voltages just fine with Afterburner.

Not exactly. The 770 is very closely related to the 680, but there are some small differences. The 770 runs faster with faster vram, and has GPU boost 2.0, and the 680 has GPU boost 1.0.
