That's only core per core. When several cores are used (like in most modern games), the FX-6300 or FX-8320 would both be better.
An overclocked Phenom II 955 would still be an okay match for an R9 270 though. There wouldn't be a noticeable CPU bottleneck in most games if you hit 4.0Ghz with it.

recently got two 8320s and paired them with two 7870 ghz and the results are superb paid 99 for each 8320 and 160 for each 7870 ghz its a good time to be a gamer

can you post a link with benchmarks for this the fx 6300 has 2 extra cores and more l3 cache as well as better single core performance i need to see some benches but either way still good for what your doing
