Hi,

I have a 160GB 2.5" WD Blue HDD I removed from my laptop I decided to put it in my gaming rig along side my 250GB Samsung 640 EVO to store the pagefile and various downloads from the internet (basically a temp file drive) so I don't write unnecessarily to my SSD.

The WD HDD has 2 partitions and when I look in explorer I see one of them but not the other.
When I load disk management I see both partitions of the disk and both are reported as healthy.
I can right click (in disk management) and open all the drives EXCEPT that partition of my WD drive (greyed out).
The partition Volume name I set still appears correctly for all drives.

Hoping someone in the community has experienced this and has some ideas as to why and how it can be fixed (besides deleting both volumes and creating a new one).

Cheers Guys

I help someone here with a similar problem not long ago.

Try shutting down and disconnecting the drive. Boot back up and log back in to Windows. Once in Windows, shutdown again. Reconnect the drive and start back up again.

Sometimes I've seen Windows screw up and not assign a drive letter when it detects the new drive. Doing this occasionally prods Windows into detecting it properly the second time.

If that doesn't work, if you right click on the partition in question, see if it gives you the option of assigning a drive letter.

I would try the first option first though.

however now I can modify the volume (had to use third party partitioning software) and have what I wanted a single volume to cache things on but no matter what I try I can not delete that volume and create a new one....

Sometimes Windows needs a do over to get it right the second time.

As for you new problem. How are the volumes arranged, is the 137GB partition first of second? Which volume are you trying to delete. From your description, you would like to expand the one partition to the entire volume of the HDD, is this correct?
