Hai guys i'm a newbie here and this is my first question on Tomshardware.

I've just bought a one year used Pc from ebay. Here is my Pc Spec :

CPU: AMD FX-6200

(Turbo bis 4 ghz) + Artic cooling Freeze 13

RAM: 8GB DDR3 1600 Mhz Corsair

Mainboard: Asus Sabertooth 990FX

Vga: Gigabyte HD 7870

SSD: 64 GB OCZ

(Systemdisk)

HDD: 2x 1 TB

(7200 RPM; 3,5 Zoll)

casing: Cooler Master RC-902XB

(2x Be Quiet! Silent Wings 2 PWM Lüfter (140mm))

Sound card: Creative Soundblaster X-FI Titanium

psu: Thermaltake 650 Watt

When i received the pc, i was tried to turn on the pc. It turned on but it shutdown in a few seconds. So i decided to find out what is happening with it, and then i found the CPU cooler's screw are loose and i tighten it.

After i did that, the pc can start normally and then i installed windows and all needed driver. But when i played Skyrim on it, the fps was not as i imagined, the average fps is only 30-38.

And i realized that my CPU temperature is a little bit high i think, at idle temperature is 40-50C and after i played Skyrim the Temperature is between 55-65C, and so i thought if i did something wrong when i tighten it.

So i removed the CPU cooler and didn't found any problem right there but the Thermal paste seems like a little bit thinned. And then i replaced the CPU cooler and the problem is back, it started and then shutdown in a few seconds.

Please help me guys, i don't wanna return this pc because i,ve won the auction jst for 370 euros.

Solution
Hey,

as you mentioned having problems with the CPU cooler being badly installed I think your CPU is overheating and that's why your computer shuts down.

When you have fiddled with the cooler you have probably improved the things a bit so the PC would start but in games the CPU gets more load and so it naturally rises its temperature.

When a CPU is overheating it starts to throttle - reducing its speed to help cool down a bit.

All you have to do is buy some thermal paste, remove the cooler, clean the old paste from both the CPU and the heatsink, apply the new thermal paste and install the cooler again.

Google for some tutorial video how to install the exact model cooler you have.

Edit: I found this video - hope it helps you...

Hey guys,

I did it!
I've jst replaced my thermal paste and my Pc going well again.
In Hwmonitor,
i saw that The CPU temperature down to 30-40c at idle
and the AMD FX temperature down to 18-30c at idle

But when i played skyrim, the fps is not changed. Max fps is only 63, and average fps is 39.
Can u tell me guys why is it like that?
I think my spec is powerfull enogh to play this games at ultra settings?
