Increase simple office usb mouse DPI beyond Win limits

I got a logitech m100 and MS basic optical mouse, both usb mice, and respectively @ 1000dpi and 800dpi. Is there a way or a 3rd party software that can help me increase the dpi beyond those limits? I tried these but to no avail.

Not possible. DPI is hardware specification of the sensor. Increasing mouse speed from windows or any other software, which is not something like the Oscar editor on X7 mouses which support multiple DPI settings, is for the price of precision.

Is that what u mean?

Sorry for delay, I was without PC for a week. I will try to clear it. Windows has nothing to do with you mouse DPI. It's only your sensor. If your mouse support multiple DPI settings, you may change them in your driver program.

Thanks! My mouse does not support any of that. It is a simple MS Basic mouse and the only control that it has is from within the mouse settings in Control Panel.

Those 2 threads I posted in the beginning kinda hint that it might be possible to go beyond that, but from your replies I get that it isn't... that's why I am confused.

The setting in the control panel isn't changing DPI, but mouse speed for the cost of precision (skipping pixels I think). I suggest you to set it to the middle and buy a mouse with higher DPI instead.

Hmm... are u sure about that? I have the 800 dpi mouse and from control panel the slider is set to MAX, so .... it totally does not feel like it is skipping pixels or mouse speed is for the cost of precision. Feels totally precise on MAX. I kinda think that the control panel dictates the dpi... wouldn't that make sense?

I'd really like to hear from others as well, on this issue, but they just don't wanna speak up

No, because many mouses doesn't have this function.

Of course if it's good for you, just use it. I told that I'm not sure 100% how it changes the speed.

Man... thanks for the input, but I have not seen a mouse, that I have used at least during the last 10 years (laser, optic, usb, ps2 ... u name it) which does not have the control panel slider function. I cant fully trust what u r saying ... thanks anyway

I am still hoping to hear from someone else .... anyone ???

All of them have the control panel slider-it's windows function, but it doesn't change mouse DPI, just it's speed.
