AMD is fine if you don't care for upgrading and want to save some cash. With the i3 you get pretty much the same performance. If later down the line you want to upgrade, you can grab an i5 or i7. Intels cores are more powerful core per core, thus why the dual core is just as good as that AMD quad core.

Yes, you could grab an 8350 and OC the snot out of it until the lights in the house start to blink on and off, but you can also slightly OC the i5 or i7 to still beat it.

Unless you are getting some special deal it doesn't make much sense to get the FX 4300 because normally its very close to the price of the FX 6300. The i3 is faster than the 4300. The i3 is really on the FX 6300's tier, and the choice between those depends. You really got to know what you will be doing with your computer and what type of apps/games you will be running. Also consider deals. If you buy a FX 6300 at Microcenter, you can get a motherboard for free. The i3-4340 is only around $125 at MIcrocenter, too.
