Well,if u r not in a hurry and if u r patient, then u can probably wait for directx 12 but i think it might release,i don't know maybe after 1 year ,also many games would still be using directx 10 or 11 and to implement directx 12,it might take another 2-3 years.so if u r not that much patient ,then go for that r9 270x. lets see

The GCN cards by AMD (HD78xx, HD79xx, R7 and R9 series) as well as Kepley based cards from nvidia (GTX 600 series and up) will be fully compatible with the new features implemented in DirectX12 including low level hardware access...and Directx12 will be backward compatible with cards as old as the HD3xxx series and GTX 400 cards, there is no need to wait. Anyway no new series of cards are announced ATM, speculations are that the 800 series by nvidia will hit the market as late as Q4 2014, or even early 2015. Select as best answer it that helped! Thanks!

AFAIK AMD only mention GCN based cards will get DX12 support (no further info about HD6k and HD5k series). for nvidia part it will be all their DX11 cards (Fermi and above). but to be fully DX12 compatible you need to get new card. they mention in DX12 there will be new feature that will require new hardware. but stuff like cpu overhead reduction stuff will work with current hardware (depends on what gpu both amd and nvidia decides to get the support)
