I have a 50Mb connection and i was doing some speed tests to see what speed i was actually getting

With a LAN connection i always get around 54Mb/s but over wifi i get around 43Mb/s

Is there a reason why i'm not getting the same speed over wifi?

Thanks

Wireless signals have more to deal with than wired connections. When you send a signal over the air, it picks up interference from any other electronic devices. Microwaves, garage doors, cell phones, they all operate on the same frequency (2.4ghz) as wireless routers. You shouldn't expect to max out your wireless speeds unless you are sitting right on top of the router and even then, it will still have more latency than a wired connection

Not knowing your exact setup/hardware, but a wired internet connection will always be the fastest, wireless is always slower (unless your wired into an old router, but get wireless from a new router, with a new wireless device on your cpu.
There are also different standards in wireless, B, G, N, A&C which can determine your speed. (if you mix them between router & computer you'll get the speed of the slowest.)

thanks for the replies. I've done some research and i think it has something to do with the link speed. i currently get 65mbps with wifi, and on lan i get 100mbps, is this because of the wireless adaptor? or can i configure something to get a better link connection?

and jimpz how can i check if i have them mixed
