Dear All Experts,

I am little worried about investing on SSD. Will it worth it. I read many of recent threads but couldn't find regarding to my issues.

I have system with good specifications (for gaming)as below:

CPU: 3770K with Corsair H100 Cooler
RAM: Corsair 16GB 1600mz
MOBO: Asus ROG V Gene
Storage: Seagate 500GB, Toshiba 2TB
PSU: Corsair 650TX
Case: Corsair Carbide 500R
OS: Windows8, MAC OS X Mavricks(Hackintosh)

I've been thinking to upgrade to SSD only for OS drive. I have some concerns about it as below:

1.) Would 120-128GB be enough for upcoming windows Operating system as rumored Windows9 or should I buy SSD with more storage.

2.) Which one is the best in its segment (120GB or 250GB) compared to price(Low budget).

3.) I still play games on HDD and have no issues on this. But I want the OS and some Applications to load faster. But spending the money on SSD, will it worth for little speed difference??

4,) I heard and read that SSD gets slower with time and Read/Write usage. I usually format my system many time a month. So I dont want an expesive product that has limited usage/performance.

5.) Does it supports all partition tables as MBR/GUID/GPT. (I use MAC too)

Note: I use Symantec Ghost v11.5 for Creating/Restoring my OS drive.

Solution
1) yes 120GB is enough for the OS and some programs that you want to load up quicker.

2) Intel and samsung make some good quality SSDs, take a look at the samsung 840 evo, they come in different sizes.

3) In my opinion, yes a SSD is worth it. Makes your system feel brand new and modern.

4) That may have been true for some of the first SSDs but it is no longer an issue. Why are you formatting your system multiple times a month?

5) I have no idea, but I would assume so because I have an SSD in my mac I use for work.

Thanks for quick reply,

1) I know that 120GB is more than enough for current OS. I just don't know what space would Windows9 consume. Leave it. Will buy 120GB Segment.

2) Would you please suggest the Intel's SSD(good one) to compare with Samsung Evo. And what would you suggest for Corsair's SSD. They have much varity to choose from but I dont know which one suits me. I am a newbie to SSD concept. And I like corsair for its service quality.

4) As I am an Operating system enthusiast (Windows/MAC/Linux ubuntu/mint/backtrack/kali/slax) and I love to explore with many software and many more things, I usually need to restore my system many times a week/month. I use VMware and Virtual box too.

5) Thanks for clearance on MAC.

For gaming on ssd , 250GB is necessary as you will get disappoint after getting the 120GB.
If you just want to get the faster loading times of apps and OS then 120GB will suffice, Samsung Evo 120GB is the best BFB.
Formatting frequently will cause several write/read speeds differences which will be probably on lower side.
It will work with mac just fine.

Upgrading to an SSD is worth only if you really want faster load times otherwise no.
