Hello guys I'm stuck deciding what to do here. I would like to buy 3 27" 1080p monitors for gaming, I have always wanted to do this. Here are the monitors I would get. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824236293

However everyone keeps saying to go 1440p so I was thinking about getting the a new Asus Rog PG278Q when it comes out.

Games I play will be CoD/Titanfall/Wildstar/Destiny and others. I also watch movies.

I have a few questions.

1) A 1440p monitor is useless for movies right now since movies do not play in 1440p right?

2) A 1440p monitor is going to make everything in games smaller? so it will be harder to see?

3) when this tech is fully developed a 1440p is just going to be the 720p and the 4k is going to be the new 1080p? If this is correct buying a 1440p is like buying a 720p now and the king will be 4k?

4) Should I get the 3 27" monitors and wait a few years for 4k to become the new 1080p or should I pick the 1440p?

1) Some content is available for 1440p but ATM I don't think there is widespread adoption of 1440p although that might change in the future.

2) Yes it will, but you have more pixels so I think it will be fine and you can see everything.

3) It will be similar except the 1440p will become the 1080p standard and 4K will be the top of the line 1440p. 1080p has stayed for awhile now so buying a 1440p now doesn't mean it's going to off soon.

4) This is a very subjective question. Do you need the extra desktop space? Would the bezels bother you a lot? Do you have the hardware to drive 3*1080p? Are drivers for 3*1080p good enough?( TBH I think they can improve. Some games support it but barely any have perfected it. You will need to tinker with your drivers a little in order to get it working seamlessly.)

1) Most of the 1440p screens use IPS or PLS screens which produce really good colors, so movies look great, you will not gain anything from watching a 1080p movie on a 1440p but they still look really good.

2) The higher resolution sort of makes things smaller, but at the same time you are seeing more. Text and UI should be adjustable in game so you don't have to worry about not being able to see certain things. I have a Qnix 1440p and have not run into an issue of not being able to see something in game due to the resolution.

3) I guess you can look at it that way, but once 4K is main stream there will just be another so with that thinking you will never upgrade because the next best thing is right around the corner.

4) I think you should go with the three monitors, it sounds like it's something you have been wanting to do and in a few years 4k will be much more affordable (possibly quicker than that). Just make sure you have a strong GPU because your pushing out a lot of pixels.

I think you should go for the 3 screen setup as with 780 in sli will give you an avg fps of 60 in most games on max settings so no need to worry about that.

i myself got 3 screens 2 weeks ago i too use 27" and i really like the multitasking i can do with 3 screens the only annoying part is when you maximize a web page or something it goes over all screens but there are programs for that like amd have hydra grid idk what nvidia has.

but you need to make sure you have the monitors far away enough so you can see all monitors easy at once because you wont be looking at the side monitors when you play as much as you thing it will take time getting used too.

You will still mostly just look at the one in middle and maybe sometimes look at the side ones and some times it can look really bad as the side ones is "stretched" but as example in bf4 while flying or in a vhicle it looks really awesome.

i would recommend you ips panels as they have much better colour i know that the response time botter some people but i think 5ms is fine and i dont notice any ghosing or screen bleeding on mine i own 2 of these monitors and will be getting a 3rd one.
