12.8Gb of hardware reserved memory!

I have 16Gb ram on my MSI Z77A-GD55 Military Class III motherboard. I use windows 7 Professional.

When I check "Resource monitor", I have between 0 to 200 mb free memory and 12.8Gb ram as Hardware reserved memory and 16.3Gb ram installed.

I use Photoshop a lot, and I keep getting notics that I have not enough memory. Could it be because of the 12.8Gb hardware reserved memory, and what can I do to fix it ?

64bit windows?

or an older 32-bit version of Photoshop? It would only have access to ~3.6GB even if you had windows 64-bit.

Resource monitor should not have 12.8 GB hardware reserved!

I have windows 7 32bit, could that be why I have that much memory as hardware reserved ?

My photoshop is the latest version CS6 x32

Yes because 32 bit OS can only address 4GB ram, to utilize all your ram you must change to 64 bit OS!

But what about the hardware. How can I check if my hardware is ready for 64bit windows ?

I have a Intel i5-3570K 4x3.4Ghz CPU.

It is, pretty much all post 2002-2004 hardware is.

So right now, 12.8Gb of my ram, I can't use. It's allocated to the hardware, and not programs like Photoshop ?

Exactly because it is just windows definition to call it hardware reserved when it can not use it.
