I own an HP P6310Y desktop. I am trying to figure out what I will need to buy to turn this into a halfway decent gaming computer. I have seen countless other forum posts for this model, each with their own problems. The most common of which are: I have an antiquated PCIe slot which can bottleneck GPU performance, so buying a very good gpu that uses a 3.0 slot could be a waste of money (?). Also, some of the cheaper 500w PSUs’ I have been recommended have some scary “…it lit on fire.” reviews to them. I am okay with killing the graphics in my games, but I would like to play some of the more demanding games on at least their lower settings. I would like to keep it at around $200.
