Hi!
I am building a gaming computer and would like advice on which configuration to choose. Bellow are the configurations I have in mind:
1) http://pcpartpicker.com/p/3kjXp
2) http://pcpartpicker.com/p/3kkAA

The main differences between them are the processors, RAM, and storage. I'm in doubt if I pick the i7 6-core, ddr3 1866MHz with SSD (option 1) or i7 quad-core, ddr3 1600MHz with HD.

Additionally, even though the 6-core option should deliver better performance than quad-core, the motherboards use different sockets. The 6-core require older lga2011 and the quad-core lga1150. If lga1150 is a newer version, why the 4770k doesn't support RAM DDR3 1866MHz?

Thank you!

LGA1150 platform supports up to 3000Mhz RAM in OC so any 1866Mhz CL9 RAM is compatible with Z87 motherboards
X79 chipset is old and doesn't have native USB 3.0 ports! Newer Z87 is better!

Look at this build if you already have 7970 or if you want to buy 7970 look at GTX-780!
Also I wouldn't recommend you CX750W PSU because it's cheaply made and it can fail in you expensive system
Hope that will help :)

Edit: Why you've chosen H60 over H100i while H100i is on sale now?

I am pretty sure that the 4770k supports 1866 Mhz ram but you may need to change a setting in the bios. Honestly for gaming you only need an i5 4670k for most situations. Also going with a SSD for core applications and an HDD for storage is pretty standard and saves money vs getting a 500gb SSD.

On a side note, I highly doubt you (or anyone) will notice the difference between 1600 and 1866 Mhz ram unless you are doing some extremely ram intensice work. Also 8gb ram is more than enough for gaming so unless you are doing a lot of video editing and rendering or CAD work there is really no point to 16gb at this time.

World domination! Just kidding, I want an excellent gaming computer, where I can run modern games in high settings smoothly and with high fps rates.

I don't have the 7970, was just thinking on buying it. I'll have a look on the GTX 780. Also will replace the H60 for the H100i. Thank you very much for the insights, you guys have been very helpful.

Thanks!
