Windows 8 does not boot correctly after booting from DVD drive

Hey. I have had this issue for a day now. I inserted my external DVD drive to watch a movie. I rick click the drive in Windows Explorer, and Explorer freezes. I decided to boot from the DVD. After this, I got a "Reboot and select proper boot device" screen. I shut off the PC, unplugged the dvd drive, and restarted the pc. I still got the same screen. I checked the BIOS to make sure that my HDD with Windows 8 installed was first in the boot order. Sure enough, it was. I force booted from the HDD, and I get the same screen. I booted from my other option, Windows Boot Manager, with a blue UEFI ribbon. When I boot from that, it says "Preparing for Automatic Repair", and then fades to a black screen. I inserted my recovery USB. It shows an endless loading screen. I cleared the CMOS and loaded defaults. No luck. How do I fix this? I am very frustrated.

No, I bought Windows 8 and installed it myself. It has worked fine for months, until I boot from a movie.

Loading defaults, if you changed something to make 8 work *could* also be an issue ( as I don't know what you have.
as an example, if you have an SSD & changed it to ACHI, now the default is IDE or if you turned on (or off) secure boot & now it's the opposite.. . .

I never mess with my BIOS, so I never change anything that might mess things up.

When I boot from the DVD, I see a Windows logo for about 30 seconds, and then it shows the loading circle. Then it fades and goes black. Nothing else happens.

I'll admit I'm guessing a little here, but as the DVD isn't loading correctly (even if it was used before) it sounds like an issue with either the DVD or the DVD player. (how long have you let ir run?)

Worst case, something happened to the motherboard - thou unlikely. "forums.mydigitallife.info' have valid ISO of all versions of windows to download & burn to cd - you just need the key.
