Hello,
I've been having issues getting my computer to overclock. I built this computer specifically for an overclock-able gaming PC. I currently have my CPU clocked at the factory speed - 3.9Ghz. The computer crashes if I try going to 4.6, but that isn't the only problem. The computer also literally runs games faster (ie, walking is faster than running in a game w/ overclocking. this still happens on a minor overclock (4Ghz)). I've tried increasing the voltage and HT multiplier, and I've also tried disabling the turbo boost. I have also had a similar problem with the graphics card while attempting a minor overclock. It does not run the game faster, but it still crashes.
Is the motherboard faulty? Did I forget to do something before I overclocked?

Full system specs:
AMD FX-6350 (unlocked)
Asus M5A97 LE r2.0
Crucial BallistiX Sport XT (1x8GB) @ 1866Mhz
Nvidia Geforce GTX 770
Thermatake TP 750W PSU
Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo
WD caviar blue 1TB

Any help is greatly appreciated. If more information is needed, I will happily supply it.

Board is not a good overclocking board and with your cooling 4.4-4.5GHz would be good.

I've heard that the Asus M5A97 LE r2.0 was pretty good with overclocking. I would expect it to at least be able to handle a slight overclock.

I appreciate the response. However, even at 4-4.5Ghz, it still gives glitchy performance in games.

Not surprised I would match GTX770 with FX8350 or I5 minimum!

I used to have an R9 270x; it had the same problems. Also, there is not a big performance difference between the 6350, 8350, and the i5 3570k. I doubt the graphics card has anything to do with it.

Get two matching ram modules for better performance.

RUN 2 for dual channel mode.

I was considering throwing in two more 4gb sticks of the same modules. However, that would be 8gb x 1 and 4gb x 2, so not exactly identical across the board. Should this help with the overclocking issue?

2x4 WOULD BE THE WAY TO GO FOR dual channel mode.

I already have the single 8gig stick. 2x8 should be just as good, correct?

Sure it will be fine.

I really do appreciate this, but the main problem is glitchy performance only when overclocking. There is still a high framerate, but everything in the game is literally much faster with the overclock(like I said, walking feels faster than running while overclocking along with general glitchy-ness). I've never seen anything like this happening to anyone else or myself.
