Hi,
Please help me in this, At the moment I'm running SLI gigabyte OC gtx 580 but now that I got a Asus OC GTX 780 TI and the problem is this, a gtx 580 only needed a Pcie 6P with a pcie 6+2P to run. Both the Pcie 6p and 6+2p is in one cable. what happen is that the gtx 780 ti oc require 2 pcie 8p to run. Will it be ok to use both pcie 6+2p from the two separate cable as a 8pin to 8pin connector for mu gtx 780ti while leaving the extra two pcie 6p dangling inside my chassis? any help would be much appreciate.

Yes, you can use an 6+2 pin to total the 8 pin that you need and you can also leave cables hanging, it shouldn't do anything.

Do you mean I'm ok to use two 6+2p cables for the 8 x 8p gtx 780ti connector without any risk of overcharging the card? just need to make sure if it is all good then im good to go, thank for the help mate :D

Yes it should work. If you are really that concerned, just use converter cables:

Don't use one cable for both ports on the card though, you were confusing in what you first said.

If you have an 8 pin port and an 8 pin port.. you don't use one cable that has an 8 pin and a 6+2 pin for both 8 ports

I use 2 separate cables, regardless of their extra connections. 2 unique plugs into the PSU

Maybe I do it wrong :p

Hi mate,
thanks for your concern, I did use two seperate cable (6+2/6pin cable) by plug in the 6+2pin in each connector and leave out the extra 6 pin in both cables. the first time I boot it won't state up to window no mater what I did, repair window, restore window to the day of working condition and reset membo, even go back to reinstall my two gtx 580. Luckily, When I pull all the video card out, run pc with A Hdm connector from intergrated graphic of my motherboard. I manage to restore window back to it working day. I then reinstall the card and everything seem to run super fasr now. Dont know what had happen but it all well now :)  thank for your usefull advide bud ;)
