PSU blew up

System spec:
Motherboard: intel dg945gclf
CPU: intel core 2 duo
memory: DDR 2 RAM 1 gb

My PSU JUST blew up with a smoke coming out....

It is an old one the name is: 400w Zebronics platinum series PSU...
Why did it blow up?

Pls help URgent Thanks a lot :)

There is one thing called Efficiency. Google for "80 plus".
If efficiency is low there is much power lost as heat inside PSU.
As I can see from PSU name it is platinum rated and produces not so much heat but if cooler fails there is still possibility you can overheat it.
Also when PSU is used for long time it is losing some of its rated capacity and becomes unstable at higher loads.

Buy good Seasonic, Antec, XFX or Corsair PSU that have all kinds of protection including overheat protection but it is not likely to need it under normal usage.
Hope that none of other components are damaged.
