Hey everyone this is my second time using tomshardware forum, the first time I used it was very helpful. On the topic whenever I play game(Dota 2 Only) and use Video Stability Tester program my Display goes black it restarts after a while if I don't(Usually I switch off the main supply and switch it on to make it restart) and this is the error I get after restart. Some times I can play whole game but most of the times it restarts within 15 minutes, 5 minutes, 20 minutes, 30 minutes. This thing never happened in the past 2 years I am experiencing it for the first time !

"Problem signature:
Problem Event Name: BlueScreen
OS Version: 6.1.7601.2.1.0.256.1
Locale ID: 1033

Additional information about the problem:
BCCode: 117
BCP1: FFFFFA8007B7F4E0
BCP2: FFFFF8800F161E20
BCP3: 0000000000000000
BCP4: 0000000000000000
OS Version: 6_1_7601

C:\Windows\Minidump\040214-16130-01.dmp
C:\Users\XcarnaTioN\AppData\Local\Temp\WER-27674-0.sysdata.xml"

Also I noticed my GPU temperature while Idle is 55°C-60°C and while under load it touches
94°C-100°C.I noticed it restarts whenever the temperature goes above 100°C.

PS: While cleaning my GPU once I mean like 6 months ago I cleaned heat-sink and fan by sinking them under water bucket as it had too much dust on it, I didn't use water on the gpu board(CHIP) :p
Also I tried everything from updating GPU drivers, clean formatting and re installing Windows, cleaning the case.

My rig

CPU > Intel Core 2 Duo E7500
MOBO > Dell 0T287N with intel chipset P35/G33/G31 , Bios A11
RAM > 4 GB DDR2
Current GPU> GTS 450
PSU > Cooler Master Elite 350W

try restoring pc last date before this problem started to show up. It can be drivers or malware and virus issue.
Give a malware with Malwarebyte and antivirus scan.

As I already said I 've clean formatted my PC i found no malware or virus attack...Yes I did complete both the scans it showed 0(ZERO) threats from both ^^

It seems that is overheating, did you have the same issues before you cleaned it? Did you apply any thermal paste on chip before setting the heatsink back? What are your cpu temperatures while playing?

I didn't apply thermal paste on chip nope I didn't had issues like that before

That's the most important thing you are missing out. Remove the heatsink and apply thermal paste like Arctic Silver 5 for the best results and then place the heatsink on your gpu chip. Make sure the heatsink is being properly attached to the chip and there is small bubble formation when apply the paste. Keep us updated.

Im guessing, if you apply some thermal paste, you could get alot degrees off your gpu. Gpus max temperature for stable working is 85°C, anything over that you can expect BSODs, not to mention your gpu is old, it might be worn out. Im 99% sure thats the issue, apply some thermal paste(google it if u dont know how-its very easy), and make sure that fan is working ok, and that the heat sink is in place propertly.

High temps can cause such problems and will also result in shut down your pc. Even drivers that are not up to date that can also result in same situation sometimes.

My drivers are upto date but the thing about high temperature is true under load that gpu goes up to 100°C.
PS: I bought new GPU ATI Radeon HD R 7770 XFX Core edition does it bottleneck with my given pc specifications? If so how do I solve it?

there won't be bottleneck with your given configuration to most extent. Just make sure you have enough current to supply for your new gpu.
