hello friends,
i was really unhappy because my xbox 360 controller (wired) died in just 6 months of usage in (PC) , the problem was getting disconnected every time. In past i have used logitech f510, frontech, and enter gamepads aswell.

so now i have to buy a new gamepad, but this time i am worried which one to buy , i was having a good time with logitech
f510 gamepad, lasted 3 years. so now i have spotted four gamepads please tell me which one to buy
or suggest me any other if you like .

Not to purposely go against the grain, but I'd suggest you buy another 360 controller and put the one you had down to a bad example. The reason is simply because PC games natively support the 360 controller, there's no need to muck about with drivers or propriatory software. Certain games may not even support the controller you want to use.

If the controller supports XInput (which is the API used by the 360 controller) then it should work natively. The only potential snag is that the on-screen button prompts may not match the symbols on the controller. A mior consideration, but it could become irritating. I don't know this for sure as I've not used anything other than a 360 controller though.

I'd first establish if the controller supports XInput; there's isn't much on the Thrustmaster website so you may want to drop them an email.

Get another xbox 360 controller man. Its proven, natively supported...you just got a bad one.

So you guys are saying that most PC games have on screen support for the 360 controller? Has anyone had any luck getting multiple wireless 360 controllers working? What about DualShock?

Honestly, the 360 controller is the "best", by virtue of the fact its one of the few gamepads with native Windows support.

Most gamepads don't use XInput [the new Input API], but instead still use DirectInput, which does NOT map 1:1. The most famous example is the spinning-camera issue in Unreal 3 games, which is caused because the right stick on some gamepads that use DirectInput doesn't map properly, resulting in the center position of the stick being interpreted as the stick being pushed to the right, resulting in a spinning camera that you can not stop.

There are middleware programs that attempt to bind controls to map to the XInput API [x360CE is the best example], but this isn't supported by all games. Some games also don't recognize any controllers EXCEPT the 360 controller [Mercenary Kings is one I know of, but I know there's plenty of others].

So at the end of the day, since its natively supported, the 360 controller [wired] is probably the best.

so i have decided to go once again with xbox360 wired controller after having a worst experience with the controller in past.
but please my friend have a look at this - http://mdcomputers.in/gaming-gears.html/game-pad/thrust...
this does looks like it support x input , and many said that there is a software that will config xinput .

I'm new to gaming on a PC an seeing this thread I just wanted to pop in an ask a quick question....

How hard is it to use an Xbox 360 controller with your computer for gaming?

Do you just plug it in an go or do you need to download some sort of driver or anything?

thanks!

The first time it will install drivers...then after that you just plug it in, start the game and it acts just like it would an xbox 360 / one game would with it...that is if the game supports it...which most do now.

The best way to find out is to email Thrustmaster. It certainly looks like a 360 controller and supports the PC, so you'd imagine it would support XInput, but I can't find a reliable source to confirm it.

I wouldn't trust third-party software to handle XInput. The whole point of a native API is that it doesn't require additional software.

Just download the XInput driver from MSFT's website. If you use a wireless one, you also need the wireless receiver; using the USB charger to connect WILL NOT WORK.

The only issue I have with the controller itself is that you can't use both triggers at the same time, since the OS recognizes them as a z-axis, rather then two discrete buttons.

What type of wireless receiver? Does it plug into your motherboard like wireless internet adapter?

I looked for a wired one an no retailers sell them anymore. Where could I find one brand new?

I asked a sales associate yesterday at BestBuy if the Xbox One controller worked with the PC an he stated that it didn't. Rather he knows what he is talking about or not is another story. Though I'm sure it probably doesn't. Most likely they will not make it compatible with the PC for a little while so they can still sell off their surplus of 360 controllers. Just a thought but I don't know. Wish they would cause I want one.

Can you use a wireless 360 controller as a wired controller without the wireless adapter if you have the charging cord that plugs up via USB? Just wondering.... because I can't find a wired xbox 360 controller.

Games with QTEs in them would be painful with a controller other than the xbox version. So many games have them too.

We did, buy the xbox 360 controller. The Xbox one controller drivers are not coming to pc until later this year and Xbox one controllers cost double the 360 controller's price. They work exactly the same.

I like the wired controller because it doesn't have the battery pack on the back of the controller that imposes on your fingers being comfortable.

Thanks guys for suggestions. I appreciate you guys .
Finally I bought Logitech f710 wireless controller and I must say its awesome!
After using both xbox360 and Logitech f710 I can must say Logitech is having
Far superior built quality and the wireless sensitivity is also very good from far distance as we'll and it does have xinput and directinput to support older games as we'll . so overall till now it's going very good, and I hope it will forever inshallah .
Closing the thread now with the best answer!!
