Cheapest Intel CPU with performance comparable to a Phenom II x4 955

I'm looking for the cheapest Intel CPU (probably a dual core i3?) with performance the same or slightly worse than an AMD Phenom II 955. The reason is, I'm switching motherboards, and at the moment I just need a placeholder CPU for a low price that won't actually decrease my performance, at least not too noticeably.

Socket LGA1155 or LGA1150 are both fine.

Okay, looks like I'm going with the i3-4130 unless someone has a better option.

The i3 4130 would be just fine for you. It is actually faster than a Phenom II.

just make sure to get 1150 since broadwell will also use that socket and give you a possible upgrade.
