All my saved doduments and pics are lost when I restart my lap top!

Suddenly my laptop decided to be slow on restarting and I lost all my saved files and pics and my desktop reverts to the original desktop after I have changed it!

Stop using the laptop and don't risk overwriting anything on the hard disk.

The ideal way to solve this problem is to use your most recent backup.

As soon as possible 'clone' the hard disk onto another hard disk and make yourself an exact copy. Now you can run some experiment on the cloned hard disk.

Try and use "System Restore" and see whether it restores it to a previously known good setup. Usually this does not affect data but this is not a normal case.

Sounds like you are loading a temporary profile or you have a virus that changed your rights and hid or deleted files. Need more details on the issue and any error messages that come up. You turn on the laptop, then what happens? Do you have an account you use to logon or does it automatically load Windows and your profile?
