Is switching off the computer using the power button bad for the computer?

Sometimes, whn i try to switch on my computer, it does not respond. Hence, i had no choice but to switch it off using the power button instead of shutting it down the normal way. Is this harmful to my computer?

Not really as long as you do it while computer is hanging from shutdown and not during tasks or normal windows operation , i have this issue with a pc also , have done this hundreds of times and no problems , if you cannot shut it down any other way then you have little choice
