Have an HP Professional Laserjet 1606dn installed on windows server 2008 R2 server.

IN windows, the printer started reporting out of toner. Toner was replaced but message did not clear. CHecked printer's GUI and the printer shows itself to be full on toner, just windows reporting no toner. Tried uninstalling and reinstalling, printer shows offline, then switches to online and no toner.

I would normally think the NIC is going out so its not communicating correctly, but that doesn't make since given the GUI talks fine.

Any Ideas would be appreciated.

It looks like the NIC burned out, had an ip conflict on network that potentially caused this, even factory resetting the machine did not resolve.

FYI I did discover if on an HP printer (or HP professional laserjet 1606dn at least) if in the GUI you have it set to "Manual IP" when you factory reset the machine, it will not reset the IP info back to factory. You will have to first get into the GUI and turn off Manual IP and then perform the factory reset. just helpful info
