Hello all,
I am having trouble setting this up... I want to be able to chat with my friends through a cheap headset(one mic, one headphone headset) like you would on xbox live, but on a PC. I know about raidcall and skype, but I want the game sounds to go through my home theater system, and only chat going through my headset, like xbox live. Is this possible? I google searched this for hours and couldn't find anything on it. Please let me know if you need any other information. I am trying to play ESO with my friends, but I don't want any of the sound of the game to come through my headset.

Thanks in advance!!

Google hangouts will let you specify which playback device you use. I use it all that time to play starcraft with my buddy. If you don't want hangouts you can do it from inside the browser in gmail as well though you sacrifice group voice chats.

Really? So you can still hear your game sounds through your speakers and ONLY your friends through your headset when using hangouts??

If you had another sound card then it would be very easy to set up, It really depends on how many ports you have on your sound card, ie, set rear to the games, front for Skype/Hangouts; Or say set HDMI for games, then set your sound card to Skype/Hangouts.

It should be quite easy to setup really.

Well it's a wireless headset that is bluetooth. The bluetooth dongle plugs in via USB. So I don't think that is possible. Is there an option within Hangouts to just use that headset for hangouts chat and that's it?. And I never encountered a card that could port to different components. Usually ALL sound comes from one device, whether it's from your sound card or your integrated sound on your motherboard.

I have never used hangouts, but Skype lets you choose what audio device you what to use, I would think Hangout does the same. And with it being bluetooth usb it should show up in the audio device list, It should work fine.

Just install Skype/Hangouts, go the the audio preferences and have a look for the "blue tooth audio" or something like that.

Was that headset also bluetooth, or was it directly plugged in? I don't have a PS3 so idk if their headsets are all bluetooth or not.

I hope hangouts will see the bluetooth headset I have coming. It seems you cannot get a wireless headset without it being bluetooth because of the mic I am assuming. Here's hoping it works!
