Can I run Visual Basic 6 in Windows 7 compatibility mode?

I handle the IT support for a large building, one of the people who work here came and is needing to run Visual Basic 6 but his machine has Windows 7. Off the top of my head I thought compatibility mode may work but wanted to reference here if anyone has any experience with this?

visual basic or visual studio ? if visual basic 6 so you can install it on win7

I followed a guide to install VB6 on windows 7 without success, I ended up running a windows XP virtual box and using that environment for it.
