Hello everyone.
I currently am using a MacbookPro 13" as an iTunes server with a My Book 2tb usb3 drive. But sometimes it seems slow loading over wifi to my Apple TV and also slow from the drive in general... with ssd prices coming down would it be worth me getting a 1tb SSD and a caddy ? or should I look into getting a Thunderbolt drive with ssd inside ?

I sincerely doubt that the limiting factor is the external drive, rather than WiFi. Would you be willing to do a speed test on the external drive? Or can you copy some of the affected files to the internal drive, try sending them, and see if you get better speeds or the same?

Ok. With usb3 it is quite fast, 25 secs to copy a 4.7gb movie to Internal Drive from My Book. The Laptop (2012 MBPro 13" 128gb ssd, 8gb ram) is using Gigabit Ethernet rather than the Wifi. I have the HomeHub 5 and a 2yr old AppleTV so it could just be the wifi on the AppleTV, since my new MacbookPro is a Feb'14 retina model (with 256gb ssd & 16gb ram) and copying to that (the same file) takes 4 minutes exactly.
