Hello,

This is my first post here. I just recently built my first computer.

I have an out of town friend that told me he has a copy of Windows 7 professional. So, after I put the thing together, I went down and visited and he installed the OS and drivers to me to get the thing running and save me a $100.

Now that I got it back home and have been messing around with it, i noticed that my storage drive has 100mb set as "system reserved" > 2.2TB of space I can use and, > 746GB of unallocated space. I have done plenty of research and understand that I need to convert the entire dixk to GPT. When I right click on the drive to "convert to GPT disk" it will not let me select that option. From what I read, this is because when I installed the OS I had the 3tb Storage disk plugged in, and the OS has created something that will not allow me to completely make the changes I want. The only solutions that I have found require me to reinstall the OS, but I do not have the ability to do that, because I don't have the OS to reinstall. Is there any other way to solve this problem?

I must apologize in advance, as I am a novice dude trying to stay afloat, and appreciate anyone's help/patience.

A reinstall is really the best option. Failing that, I would suggest unplugging all drives but the system drive, doing a Repair installation of Windows 7, and then replugging the system drive. Lacking Windows 7, I suggest that you try an experiment. Remove the 3 tb drive and see if your system still boots. If it does, you can run the system with no recovery partition. Not ideal, but you don't have much choice without the media.

Umm, a question. Your friend who has a copy of Windows 7 Pro. Did he already have that copy installed and running somewhere? If not, then you have the license. If he does, then your copy is unlicensed and you really need to go buy a copy - which would solve your problem of not having the media!
