My power supply makes this vibration or humming sound when i cover the fan with my hand (i can play a tune if i slide my hand back and forth :D ). When PSU is installed in a case its always partialy covered by case grill so it is always making noise (gets even loader when on load). Any thoughts how to remove this annoying sound ?

Solution
You could try flipping the PSU so the grille points up sure. It may very well be a bad bearing in the fan as well, tough to say without a little poking about.

What's annoying to some isn't even noticed to others so it's hard to quantify your situation. I read a post not long ago where the poster was complaining about the noise the mouse cord made on his desk top when he moved the mouse. If I were you I'd call Seasonic.

The vibration is caused by uneven loading on the fan blade assembly. The fan is trying to pull air in uniformly but when part of the intake area is covered close enough to the fan blades themselves, uneven air pressure/force on the blades causes the whole thing to skew slightly, putting it off balance.

Either that or the blades passing close to a surface causes turbulence, resulting in the noise, similar to fan blades on a radiator causing whistling noise when positioned too close.

Well its more loud to me than my r9 290x and intel 4770k@4.1ghz. I just applied a temporary fix for my hdd vibration sound ( fractal design case fault) and now PSU noise is the only thing left in the way. I am thinking about these options:
1) new psu
2) cut out the case grill below psu. not sure if a good option
3) get used to the noise

yeah, but how to resolve it? should i reverse the fan?

Ha!, i took psu out 3 times and didnt think about this, i was thinking about opening a psu and reversing the actual fan inside psu. gonna try it right away. thanks!
