Hey all, I know some similar topics such as this have been posted before, but found nothing that can solve my specific system problems and I hope you can shed some light on it.

My specs:

Intel Core2 Duo E6750 @2.66GHz
2GB (2X1GB DIMMS with then an additional 2 Crucial 1GB PC2-5300 240-pin DIMM DDR2 sticks)
32bit Windows 7 OS Service Pack 1
775 LGA Socket
Conroe 1333 DV/H Motherboard with PCI Express 1.0
i945G Chipset

The RAM was recommended by the crucial website after entering mu current specs, meaning the RAM I ordered should work in my two empty slots, either that of crucial have misled me, surely leading to me being able to be refunded?

I originally installed the two new sticks into the two empty slots on my mobo, (the two not in use were orange, the other two in use were yellow) and when the PC booted up, the system would run but nothing would appear on screen, and the original loud noise of turning my computer on would not cease.

I then saw somewhere that my BIOS may need updated, and indeed it did, I updated it to the most recent version that my E6750 was supported by (as of the Intel website) and updated all of my drivers and software updates. I then retried the process and the same error occurred.

I'm so perplexed as to why this is happening, as it appears to me that all of my ends are covered in ensuring this can be installed correctly?

I hope I've provided all of the information necessary.

Many thanks in advance, Ross.

The 945 chipset supports 2 GB of DDR2 RAM maximum(I know; I have the same chipset).

Thanks for the quick reply, would that mean I need a whole new mobo or just a new chipset? (Sorry if this is a stupid question, I'm really unfamiliar with all of this!)

No disrespect but I think you are wrong about that. It supports upto 4GB that's according to Intel. - http://ark.intel.com/products/27720/Intel-82945G-Memory...

That's alright, every expert once was a newbie (I was). :clin:

You just change the motherboard, Chipset is found on the motherboard.

Have you tried installing just the crucial modules alone (without the the old 1GB modules). Also try one module (crucial), make sure all the slots are empty. See if it works.

Yes your chipset an mobo can support 4GB, problem here may be you have two (or more different sticks (models)) and they may not want to play nice, make sure you have the latest BIOS, then try with the two new sticks, if they boot and work OK, then go into BIOS and raise the DRAM voltage + 0.075 and the NB Voltage + 0.050 from the current, then save, eexit, shutdown and try adding the other pair of sticks

Well, I downloaded the latest BIOS that the motherboard could handle with my Processor AMI 1.30 (According to the website), but I cannot access my BIOS. I've tried DEL, ESC, Every single F Button, and still I cant access it.

The only thing I can access is the Windows Boot Manager, which doesn't help me at all..
Any ideas on how to access it?

Thanks

You'll have to keep pressing it rapidly for it to work. Once doesn't usually do it.

Ok so I finally got into my BIOS, but my newest problem is that there is no DRAM voltage settings within my BIOS, only the frequencies, how do I access the voltage readings to change them?
