I have added a couple computers to the network at my workplace, all computers running Windows 7 Pro. I am attempting to join these new computers to the existing domain but when I do this, Windows gives me the following error message:

"The following error occurred attempting to join the domain "xxxxxxxx":

An attempt to resolve the DNS name of a domain controller in the domain being joined has failed. Please verify this client is configured to reach a DNS server that can resolve DNS names in the target domain. For more information about network troubleshooting, see Windows help."

I am not having any luck using Windows Help. Any advice?

Thanks!

Are you able to access the internet from the computers. Do they have the correct DNS server ip address when you do ipconfig from the command prompt.

All are successfully connected to the internet and all older computers are visible on the network from the 2 newer computers. I have not checked ipconfig from the command prompt. I will try that. Thanks!

Check the time settings, if those are off you can get an error when trying to join a domain. Make sure BIOS clock is correct as well as Windows.
