R9 280x Bios update?

I have the MSI gaming version, and read there was a bios update for this.

Using GPU-Z my current card shows:

Release Date: Oct 8, 2013
Bios Version: 015.042.000.000.003435 (113-C3865000-O77)

Searaching around I've found bios updates with what appears to be a lower version, but a later date. Anyone with a bit more knowledge able to help?

I have never touched my GPU bios, and do not plan to unless there is an issue stated, many times they will do very miner changes like 1 pizel to the left in a text in the configuration and come out with a new Bios that goes out with the next set of cards.

I would not worry about updating your BIOS unless you find MSI wants you to.

The 015.040.. is the only one i found that had any actual issues.

It looks like everywhere i have searched is pointing towards the lower version with the later date as the one you want to install to fix an overheating issue.

015.040...........

Still not sure though .. I see there are two in that table following the 015.042 format..

-015.042.000.003.000000 / 2013-12-26 22:07:00
-015.042.000.000.003435 / 2013-12-04 05:04:00

One of which I currently have (I think?). Should I be looking at the top one? Or the lower one with the same version but newer date?

I was expecting the version just to update incrementally each revision!

I believe you should be using the newer date of the same bios..

A few questions first.. Why do you want to update the bios?

it looks like they were having issues with the 015.040.. version of the bios with overheating.. but your's should be fine.
