Hello all, how r u? i was fine until last night when someone from my family, accidentally deleted a folder from my laptop's desktop.
That folder contains about 80 ( .txt ) files that i had had had to recover back else i will be a dead man. However, i had tried data recovery software name as "Recuva" it had recovered 9 of my files. I need rest of my files back so i need your help or any suggestions. I would be very thankful to you.

Also something I forgot to mention, if your laptop has a SSD, and TRIM is enabled (it should be) then the chance of recovering a file is pretty much none. As you have already recovered a few of the files, I'm going to assume this isn't the case.

Also as Ijack said, if these files really are a huge deal, then taking it to a pro is going to be your best option. Don't touch the computer anymore and let them handle it. It'll be pricey and depending where you are you may have to send off your computer. And yeah, backups are your friend. Any important files you have should be backed up, even better is to back them up somewhere different then the computer you're using (cloud, USB, external).

Well you're on the right track. The only things I can think of is maybe using another program like TestDisk and see if you can recover more.

The down side running the risk of installing over the sectors where the data is located when you install a program. It's not a huge deal as long as you have a decent sized HD, but it will happen eventually.

Best way to recover your data would be to use a professional data recovery service, but it's expensive. Never install recovery programs onto the disk you are trying to recover; in fact you should write nothing to it. Ideally you clone it and work on the clone, not the original.

As things are, I'm guessing that you are going to have great difficulty recovering more. You are going to have to recreate those files. Look on the bright side - you have learnt an important lesson about using a computer. Always keep regular backups of anything important; and if you can't afford to lose it keep at least two copies on different media.

thanks guys for helping me. I just need a one more try for recovery before i would take it to someone professional. As i said earlier that i tried recovery software, that was good but it didn't asked me about .txt files for recovery. It asked me about video files, .exe files and .word files. Is there any software that is used specially for .txt files or notepad files ?
yes Ijack and Jake you are right about backup files. I didn't cared about it because it was my personal laptop but while spending holidays in home my family members used skype on it for some reason. Here the problem started but next time i'll store backups.

Give TestDisk a try. Would be better if you had a USB stick and could download it and install it on there, then run it. However, Recuva does have a "documents" option as far as I can tell. Look around some more and see if you can find it.

Also keep in mind that TestDisk is a command console program so you'll probably need it's wiki up as you go though it.
