How to put in a EVGA gtx 760?

Solution

This PC is equipped to receive your new graphics card.

Now here's what you have to do :

1- shut down the PC
2- Turn off the switch at the back of the powersupply unit and unplug from the wall
3- Touch something metal (PC case) to make sure any accumulated static electricity that might have built-up on you is
discharged
4- Remove the old card in PCIe x16 slot 1 (dont forget to lift the little plastic tab on the end of the slot before pulling out the card)
5- Insert new card in PCIe 16x slot 1 by firmly pressing on it until you feel the plastic tab click and you feel the card sits in the slot just fine and plug the required power connector in the front of the card
6- Close...

A few things you need to check first:
-Does your motherboard (mobo) have a PCIe slot?
-What power supply do you have (need to know wattage, brand, and amps. A picture of the sticker on the power supply would be helpful)?

If your mobo and power supply are good then all you would need to do is plug the graphics card into the PCIe slot and attach a 6-pin connector from your power supply to your gtx 760.

Also it would be helpful if you posted your computers full specs.

7- boot in windows, download and install latest driver from nvidia website
8- Reboot computer and test a game..

Yes, that means that it has a PCIe slot but looking at the 1 review the computer has a 350w power supply which will not be enough to support the gtx 760. So if you wanted to upgrade your gt 620 to a gtx 760 you would need a good quality power supply with 550w. A 550w power supply would allow you to use almost any single gpu setup.

Here are some suggestions for power supply:

Power Supply: XFX 550W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply ($59.99 @ NCIX US)
Total: $59.99

Power Supply: SeaSonic 520W 80+ Bronze Certified Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply ($68.99 @ SuperBiiz)
Total: $68.99

wow really? they must have two version of this machine cause the one i just looked at had a 500w PSU...where did you get your infos on the PSU?

EDIT: Nahhh you're right it does come with a cheapo 350w PSU it will not work with this card i hope it's not too late and the OP is not already doing the swap, i feel really bad, i'm very sorry for the missinformation. The GXi3800F is the one with a better PSU...

I read the review on the pc that he bought, the reviewer stated it had a 350w psu that he had to change out to use a GTX 770. The best way to confirm would be for Garon Booth to pop open his case and take a picture of his PSU and post a link to the picture on imgur.com or something.

The seasonic doesn't have a mimimum of 30 amps on the 12v rail, so it won't work.

These would also work. OP don't put that video card in until you upgrade power supply.

Huh, didn't notice that about the seasonic. I need to read up some more on multiple 12v rails but a safe bet would be the xfx for sure

Since we are on the topic of geforce gtx 760 gpu, I have the overclocked evga 2Gb version. It has an 8pin pci power connector and a 6pin supplemental power connector. Do I need to use two different power cables at two different plugs in my psu to run this card or can I use one cable, since each pci cable has two sets of the 8/6pin connectors, one in the middle of the cable and one at the end. Sorry to kinda hijack this thread for a second but since I found some informed people on here I thought I could reach more of you than by sending 6-8 PMs. I have a corsair 750W Gold-rated psu.

I'm sure you can use both connectors on the same cable to power the GPU. If it's a gold rated Corsair 750W, I'm assuming it's a HX or AX series because they are high quality so you shouldn't have any issues.
