Hi guys
well summers nearlly here, and with my new core i5 and radeon HD6790 running my games i need to re-evaluate my cooling, especially my cpu
i have a coolermaster TX3 cooler which was originally used with my old pentium E5700,and since it supports socket 1155 would this be ok for cooling my core i5 3330 ?
im also considering digging out my old arctic cooling Accelero L2 PLUS which supports the HD6790 and must be better than the stock cooler that came with it ( vtx3d ) ..... from experience arctic cooling gpu coolers are some of the best and relatively cheap, however all i need to do is purchase some new ramsinks and screws
however im about to buy a new case to replace my NZXT M59 and i have chosen the "Zalman Z3 Plus Black Mid Tower Case "

this has 2 front 120mm fans,1 x rear fan (120mm ) and 2 top mounted fans ( 120mm ) ... and allthough zalman have mounted them with the front as intake and the remaining as exhuast i need to know if theres any better way to configure the fans
would two intake fans be enough ? ... and has anyone used zalman fans before,if so how quiet are they ?
i still have my old "cool it eco alc" closed loop water cooler ... would this be worth resurecting and use instead of a air based cooler ( like the coolermaster TX3 )
any help is much appreciated
cheers guys !

TBH I have always found this loads of system fans to be a bit of a myth, back years ago when I was more PC nerdy I was forever buying system fans and I never noticed any difference, the idea always was the fans will suck in cold air and and put it across the mobo with the back fans sucking it out, If you are that worried about heat in the summer a far more superior way to cool the system would be to get a desktop fan and point it towards the system that way you are guarnteed to get a fair bit off cooling.

The small fans we get for the PC case IMHO are far to small to make any real impact.

thanks udg
to be honest i would have to agree with you ... however my current case does need replacing .. its not the best constructed case ( mad by cit ) and i do like the zalman z3 plus ..... but in regards to cooling my i5 3330 is running higher than normal and from what ive discovered the i5 3330 does run warmer than other i5,s
also the coolermaster TX3 wont fit in my cit case so the zalman is required for that ..... i am using a desktop fan which is directed at my case ... and this does reduce temps significantly better than adding another fan .. i also remove the side panel which gives all the components a breath of fresh air
i do like those cases with 220mm side fans ... these cool your components in one swoop and they are whisper quiet due to their low rpm ..... this in combination with a 120mm front intake and rear exhaust should be ample even for the most nerdy owners
but as you said the smaller fans dont cool our components as good as we think .... 140mm upwards are the better fans but even then if the ambient room temperture is hot then your simply heating up your cpu/gpu rather than cooling it down
thanks for the reply
