I've got a new pc on the way and am really struggling to find a copy of windows 7 that looks legit and isn't ripping me off. I could get windows 8.1 fairly cheap on the Microsoft store as I have a student discount but I've heard negative reactions to windows 8.1 and i dont really want to take the risk especially as my pc is going to be a gaming pc.

Thanks for any help.

Doesn't £155 seem a bit extortionate? Especially considering I could get windows 8.1 for around £60?

Agree! Here in the US too, Win 8 is less expensive than Win 7 - it's just a matter of supply and demand.

By the same token, DDR2 RAM is much more expensive than the faster, newer DDR3 RAM.

It's crazy haha, do you think the price difference is justified? Is windows 8.1 really that much worse than windows 7??

Get Windows 8.1 and then install "Classic Shell" - it will look and work exactly like a Windows 7 computer. With one click you are in Win 8.1 if you choose to. This is what I recommend.

Windows 8.1 has better security than older versions of Windows (Windows 7 or older).

Because of the UK and Windows 8 is also seen not as good as Windows 7.

Do what Ubrales said; it'll help you a lot!
