Blue Screen Everytime it's booted

So here's the issue. I know it's on windows xp and that support for it runs out pretty soon, but that's not the problem. This computer got a blue screen, usually no big deal. Ordered new hard drive.
I don't have a backup disk of XP and the PC doesn't have a factory image partitioned on the old drive, but we do have another pc with XP on just sitting around. So i used True Image, and made a clone of that OS (from the old pc that i know works) to the new hard drive. Plugged the new HDD in the newer computer with the clone. Windows XP logo came up, then got a blues screen.
Here's the kicker, i figured at this point it was probably something other than the HDD, but i installed Linux on the new HDD also, Linux boots right up. This is the weirdest thing I've ever seen, but maybe it's a normal thing. No clue right now
